Cascadeur and Rokoko often appear in the same animation discussion, but they represent different steps of the work. Cascadeur is a standalone AI-assisted 3D character animation software. Its AI AutoPhysics makes motion physically believable, AI AutoPosing suggests natural in-betweens, and it lets you work keyframe-based. With tools like center-of-mass and force visualization it gives the animator control, and it fits existing pipelines with FBX, DAE and glTF import/export. In other words, it is designed for artists producing animation by hand from scratch.

Rokoko is instead a motion capture technology company. It captures motion from a smartphone via the markerless Vision app and from a full performance via the Smartsuit Pro II hardware, adds finger data with Smartgloves and facial data with Face Capture, and offers editing in Rokoko Studio. In other words, it is strong when you want to transfer a real performer's performance onto a digital character.

Which one, and when? If, as an animator, you want to produce stylized, exaggerated motion or deliberately bend physics, Cascadeur's keyframe control and AI assistance are decisive. By contrast, if you want to quickly obtain realistic human motion, for example capturing dialogue or action scenes from a performer, Rokoko's mocap chain fits better. In practice the two combine: you can capture with Rokoko and clean up and stylize in Cascadeur. If artistic animation from scratch is the criterion, the winner is Cascadeur.
